Conversely, lipid peroxide (LPO) activity and carbonylated protein levels showed opposite trends. The 9 × bamboo salt-treated group and the 1 × bamboo salt-treated group showed similar protein content as the standard group.
This study further revealed that 9× bamboo salt and 1× bamboo salt effectively down-regulated the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), while up-regulating the expression of tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1), matrix metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2), SOD, and CAT compared to other salts at a concentration of 0.2% (p < 0). .05).
These breakthrough findings suggest that applying Korean bamboo salt in appropriate concentrations can effectively prevent skin aging caused by UVB photodamage.
